Moray Speyside
Buckie is a busy little town with its own large harbour, a wide selection of local shops and cafes, takeaways, restaurants and bars.
There are lots of fabulous dog-friendly beaches not too far for those bringing along their four-legged family members. Cullen and Lossiemouth are just two of these, both offering spectacular walks and the opportunity for ice cream afterwards. However, my dogs would recommend Roseisle which offers a fantastic mix of forest and beach walks.
For walkers, there are numerous long walks to be taken along the coast and an abundance of wildlife, which further adds to the appeal of the area, including the famous Moray Firth dolphins and the seals at Portgordon.
Just a short car (or bus ride) away from the cottage you will have access to all the stunning fishing villages along the Moray Coast. A personal favourite of mine is Crovie, along with Findochty (or Finechty to the locals) and Portknockie.
Buckie could be said to be a golfers paradise, with its gentle climate and mild weather. There are two links courses on offer to visitors within 10 minutes drive of one another.
The Malt Whisky Trail will take you on a truly unique journey through Malt Whisky country, where you’ll encounter a huge variety of sites with much to see and do, such as globally renowned textile mills, cosy seaside cafes and world class outdoor pursuits.
Further afield, visitors can visit the larger cities of both Aberdeen and Inverness for day trips, or even stop by Loch Ness for a bit of monster hunting!
